BUFF.LY # MatchURL :No.1 Premium URL Shortener

Buff.ly is a product of Buffer, a popular social media scheduling tool. After shortening your links, you can schedule them to post at a later time. This can be beneficial if you have certain times you would like your posts to show up. This is the perfect tool for someone who's looking to shorten their social media links and schedule them too!

There are two types of Buff.ly accounts: Free and Pro . The free account will allow you to plan and post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google+. If you're also looking to post on Pinterest, consider getting a pro account.

Steps to create an account: 1) Open buff.ly in the browser 2) Click "Sign In with Twitter" or "Sign Up" 3) Click create an account 4) Verify your email 5) Connect to social media 6) Enter your profile information 7) Create a Buffer 8) Get started!

If you are already using Buffer, it's easy to migrate over to Buff.ly. You can do this once you have created your Buff.ly account by connecting the two accounts .

Once you have connected the two accounts, all of your links will be moved over to Buff.ly and still connect to Buffer! This means that when you schedule them for social media they will go out at whatever times you choose in Buffer.

Because Buff.ly is also linked with Buffer, if you ever decide that you'd like to switch back, simply disconnect the two accounts and your links will be moved back over to Buffer!

Here's a video on how you can use Buff.ly:

This is true for *new* links that are shortened via a Buffer account, but it's NOT true for existing links on a free Buff.ly account. I tried connecting my regular undos.se Buffer with my buffs/free Buff.ly account and ALL of my original buffed shortlinks ended up going to undos.se instead! Come on guys! You can do better than that :) Reply Delete

I tested this as well and found that existing links were rerouted upon connection as stated in the article above. Reply Delete

I have an existing Buffer account which i wanted to use on Buff.ly but was not able too . What should i do ? Can someone help me out pls Reply Delete

I recently migrated from free buff.ly to pro, and all was fine except for one link that just doesn't seem to want migrate over--it's going to "undos" instead of buffer even though I'm using correct API ID/key. Anyone else run into this problem? Reply Delete

Thank you for all your information. I'm using Buff.ly to schedule my tweets. Is there any reason why I can't use it with Buffer at the same time? Reply Delete

Great post, Laura. Is it possible to connect Facebook to Buffer? https://www.facebook.com/connect/uiserver#%21/pages/Buffer/86501258819 Reply Delete

I've been using buff.ly for a while but I was able to do it without linking with buffer... has something changed where the two now need to be connected? Thanks! Reply Delete

The buffer and buff.ly seem like such a great combination because I post the same items to my different accounts though I haven't done that yet as it's getting late now, I will try tomorrow and then write another article about how it went. Reply Delete

Hey Laura & BuzzFeed: Do we need to disconnect our personal Buffer account (the one with our own short links) before connecting the business Buffer (buff.ly)? We didn't see this mentioned in your blog
